Wiki Tutorial

From Camarilla Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The Cam wiki, after a few weeks of planning and coding we believe it is ready to be open to the public.

As you can see we are doing things a little differently this time around. The first and foremost thing is we are trying to this in a unified format. We have all the venues on wiki which leads to some tricky situations while trying to keep everything easy and still usable.

How to create a new page

When you want to create a new page on the wiki, just do a search for it. Once you do that, you will see the following result. In the following example, I did a search for "my cool page".

image:Searchexample.png

Once you finish the search, you should see the page you want to create at the top in red. Just click on that page and you can create/edit it. If a page that is already created shows up, you will have to use a disambiguous page.

Categories

When creating any pages, please use the categories Category:<blah> to signify where that page fits within the wiki.

To create a categories page do a search with the "Category:" in front of it. For example, if I wanted to create a Stillwater page for my city in Requiem, I would put "Category:Stillwater Requiem" in the search box and click the "create this page" at the top.

How to link to Categories

To create a link to a category in your page, you will need to use the syntax [[:Category:<name>|<name>]].

Notice that there are two : and one | in the code.

Dead Characters

To move your character to the "dead" or retired template just append "_Dead" to your PCSummary and that will move it ot the dead category.

PCSummary

Since the past wikis have been individual wikis per venue, there wasn't a need to make the pcsummaries unique. Because we have everything in one, we have to have different templates for everything. Their names are

  • PCSummary_Requiem
  • PCSummary_Ghoul
  • PCSummary_lost
  • PCSummary_awakening
  • PCSummary_Forsaken

I am sure they are going to be others as this is a wiki and people might have different ideas about how they want their box to look. But please, if you make a new PCSummary, please use these as a template. This relates to the first point of categories.

While using the PCSummary Boxes, please be sure to use the proper name of the categories. Also, make sure the captialization is correct. Just to list a few:
