Artifact - Both Editions

The Artifact Background reflects a Character's ownership of magical treasures. The Background's level determines the strength of the Artifact, and a player may choose to purchase this Background multiple times to amass a collection of various magical items.

Dragon-Blooded (including those from Lookshy), Alchemicals, Abyssals, Solars with connection to the Cult of the Illuminated, Fair Folk, and Mountain Folk gain extra benefits from this Background.
Lunars are more likely to own Moonsilver artifacts, but they may need to have a story about how they have earned that artifact.
The vast majority of Sidereal Artifacts are made of Starmetal.
God-Blooded characters may either purchase this Background as a Solar or gain additional benefits if they have the Patron Background.

Though mortal thaumaturges can attune to Artifacts if they have no attunement cost or if they possess the Magical Attunement Merit, they never gain bonuses from Magical Materials.
