History

Before Exaltation

Brought up in the Kaizoku division of House Peleps, she received an education worthy of such a heritage. Her childhood took quite a toll on her family, as she had a very angry and rebellious personality and did not hesitate to make it known to those responsible for her. Her older brother constantly pushed her to compete against him, but she surpassed him in every discipline, which intensified the competition, and fueled her obsession to Exalt as a Water Aspect. She was so rowdy that her family frequently considered sending her off to stricter schools and academies, but somewhere within the chain of command, that decision was overruled.

After she had finished her elementary education at the ripe age of 14, she had the cherished the wish of working at the Heptagram, and though this desire was not very ambitious, her family made her wish come true, simply for the sake of getting rid of her.

She worked as a cook at the Heptagram, but managed to sneak a look at many forbidden and inaccessible books during her stay. Surprisingly, she was an excellent cook, and this talent was not overlooked by the Heptagram staff and students.

As time passed, her chances of Exalting slimmed, and she became very anxious, as her firm beliefs in her worth as an Exalt were contradicted. On her 19th birthday, she was summoned to the main house.

She was received by a ceremony to celebrate her departure towards her future husband who was to be a Dragon-Blooded Prince living far off from the Realm. For the first time, she felt she was at her rightful place within her family, and even though she deeply felt her failure to Exalt, she believed moving away was a good thing, and that being far from the Realm and the Immaculate Order would permit her to freely practice any kind of thaumaturgy and heresy she wanted.

Once the ceremony was over, while she was walking to her room, her brother crossed her path and started mocking her for her failure to Exalt, while flaunting his own Exaltation. To add insult to injury, he revealed her true origin: she had been adopted by the Kaizoku, and she was the daughter of a deadly enemy of the Kaizoku who also possessed Dragon's blood, and so had been brought up as one of the family in hopes of her Exalting and contributing to the family's strength. He even went on to say her father simply impregnated a prostitute in a port, and she was the unworthy result of this affair.

That last insult enraged Nuage so much that she unexpectedly attacked her brother like a ravenous beast, and against all odds, killed him. She was caught in the act, and confined to her room until judgment could be passed on her actions.

Exaltation

Time passed, and her family's judgment, while unclear, obviously meant her indefinite detainment. She began sporadically escaping and exploring her family's villa and the many underground passages hidden beneath it. During one of her explorations, she discovered a structure that had never before been touched or seen by one of her family. It is by trying to understand the structure's purpose that she Exalted as a Twilight, simultaneously gaining the ability to read and understand Old Realm.

All became clear to her, and it was now apparent that she was standing in front of a very complex containment chamber where a Third Circle Demon was imprisoned. Her presence had stirred the demon into awakening, and he had begun negociating his liberation. Nuage, on the other hand, barely understood the unexpected development, but what she understood is that she was starting a brand new life, and had new hopes to look forward to. Of course, at that very moment, her adoptive father stepped in the room and quickly realized what was happening.

After exchanging a few threats, Nuage's father attacked her, and she tried to defend herself as much as she could. She didn't fare so well, and so the demon saw a chance to escape and offered her a deal: he would get her out of there if she freed him. Nuage accepted immediately, and broke the seal on the demon's imprisonment.

The battle changed drastically, and soon enough, her father was down on his knees, begging for his life. Her perception of him suddenly changed, and she saw him reduced to a pathetic excuse for a man. She asked where her real father was, but he knew nothing other than that he was given to the Splendid and Just Arbiters of Purpose. Then, having lost all mercy towards the empty shell her father had become, she stepped out of the room and told the demon to do as he wished with him. After a few moments, the demon also stepped out and brought her outside, to safety.

After Exaltation

The demon led her swiftly to the eastern continent. As she was now safe and out of the Realm, she negotiated further with the demon and earned his mentoring in order to learn Sorcery, which would not only be a useful tool in her adventure, but an extremely interesting pursuit in itself.

She quickly realized that she was alone and rejected in a society where Solar Exalted were reviled, and so decided that she needed a place to develop her powers while still gathering resources. The Hundred Kingdoms seemed like a logical choice, and an appropriate place to meet people in her situation and reaching her objective of gaining power.

Nearly a year passed before she reached Tonalli. During her journey, her demonic mentor arranged for her to confront her Five Ordeals, and she was extremely affected by them.

Now established in Tonalli, she uses her great knowledge of cooking, tailoring, medicine and the occult arts to gain reknown within the land's nobles, and most particularly Queen Patience. But this reknown is a double-edged sword for Nuage, as it may attract the Wyld Hunt's suspicions. Thus, she is currently planning to stage her own death so that she may isolate herself from those suspecting her to be Anathema while going into hiding from the Wyld Hunt, widening her possibilities.

Fighting Style

Nuage sees martial arts as a path to spiritual elevation and meditation. She puts much interest and effort in this discipline, maybe even more than in crafting or Sorcery.

Visually, her style very much resembles Wushu, using piercing and whipping punches and kicks, with a lot of added acrobatics.

She does not, however, presently practice any Terrestrial or Celestial Martial Art Style as of yet.

Personality

Nuage is a very proud person, and any attempt at insulting or demeaning her are usually met with great violence. She is rarely emotionally temperate, as anger very often blinds her to the consequences. She is, however, extremely rational when she is not emotionally extreme. Additionally, mortals' lives mean absolutely nothing to her unless they can be of use to her.

However, she has started becoming more sensitive towards those closer to her since she met her father's ghost. She also decided to stop mulling over her tragic past and become more proactive since then.

All the violence within Nuage actually originates from a need for peace and serenity.

Appearance

The most noticeable thing about Nuage is her height. Not only is she taller than the average woman, but her seemingly slim figure and lack of voluptuousness make her seem even taller. Yet, even though nothing in her demeanor could show any sign of violence or roughness, she exudes a dark and oppressing presence. It could be due to the fact the she never wears any bright colors, or to her hair as dark as the starless night sky, tied in a ponytail, contrasting against the golden skin she inherited from her westerner ancestors, along with the thin eyes in which she cannot hide her emotions. Her expression is often that of a scowl, and every time she honestly smiles, a Chosen of Serenity has to mop up the coffee he has just dropped on the Loom of Fate.

Relationships

The character's point of view on other characters.

With Emurati Gentille

A superficial analysis would indicate contempt towards Gentille. In truth, Nuage likes to push her to prove herself and the result is deeply amusing for her. Nevertheless, Gentille has won her respect, without even knowing it.

• Recently, she has developed some form of protectiveness towards Gentille, much like a big sister towards her younger sibling.

• Gentille's new appearance was specifically designed to correspond to Nuage's preferences for physical appearance, and so she now finds her very attractive.

• Nuage also considers Gentille to be naive and innocent, even though her appearance has changed.

With Saule Inebranlable

Nuage and Saule have established a certain complicity, yet as soon as a conflict erupts between the two, Nuage's explosive character and Saule's susceptibility combine to completely sever this complicity. Nevertheless, she considers Saule as much less of a friend and much more of an asset towards her goals.

• Even though their only fight has resulted in a supreme victory on her part, she still has doubts on who is the superior fighter.

With Ardent Brasier de Lumiere Sacree

She secretly has a profound respect for Ardent simply because he is capable of bearing the weight of his own nobility while sustaining it. However, she started distrusting him as she realized he had considerable social skills. She considers that he has no soul in the figurative sense, and that his personality changes depending on whom he is with. What convinced her is that when Gentille became his wife, he adjusted his feelings towards her for the sake of his kingdom. Unless she is proven wrong by some form of epiphany, she can never be friends with him as a consequence. She thus also considers him to be an asset towards her goals first and foremost.

• She respects his devotion towards the cause of the Solars and towards Tonalli

• The main source of conflict between them is cultural shock, and she finds this to be very amusing.

• Recently, he has proven to be very capable of handling communication for the Circle, and this grants him more points in her opinion.

• She doesn't like how Ardent acted towards Gentille in the past and she's looking for a way to make him learn his lesson.

With Verite

It wasn't the case at first, but Nuage quickly discovered the bright side of life with Vérité, by the lack of distrust between them and the fact that Vérité has been very open towards her. This has built trust, and for the first time in her life, Nuage has developed attachment towards another person. However, this attachment results in great possessiveness and jealousy. Vérité has become the most important thing for Nuage because she is the sole source of happiness she has ever known, and she would not give up such well-being for anything in the world but now, during her absence, Nuage got into a very short and passionate relation with Peleps Parisi and revealed to Peleps Rojo her feeling towards him which ended up by some weird reaction from Vérité when Nuage unveiled what happen during her awayness... Nuage is very worried that Vérité will try to suppress her sadness by keeping her distance.

• Nuage finds her growth to be very important, and thinks highly of her potential.

• Vérité is very attractive to Nuage.

With Queen Patience

Queen Patience is pretty much the mother Nuage hever had, so she was very deeply affected when the Queen disappeared. She felt a lot of gratefulness and admiration towards this strong and great woman.

• She could have been jealous of her relationship with her son if it had strengthened.

With Princess Tiare

For many reasons, Nuage hoped that the Princess would become heir to the throne when the Queen disappeared. She was about to form a relationship similar to the one she had with the Queen, as she seemed to greatly appreciate Nuage's talents and it was very flattering to her.

• Nuage is a great supporter of matriarchy.

With Peleps Rojo

Jamais elle n'aurait pu s'attendre ce que Rojo aurait pu devenir a ses yeux. Tout dabord, c'est un membre de la wyld hunt et c'est le premier qui découvrit que Nuage était une solaire et aussi, celui qui semblait vouloir donner le plus une chance au discours de nuage de cohesion entre dragonblood et solaire contre les abyssals. Cette ouverture d'esprit lui donna beaucoup de bon point et elle vit en lui la possibilité d'etre le porte parole pour une reconsiliation entre dragonblood et solaire et relativement a ca, elle se mit a l'admirer et de fil en aiguille, a développer une attirance.

Random facts

• Nuage has several names:
  • Peleps Kodak, her official name as a citizen of the Realm;
  • Ameriad, the name she chose when she escaped the Realm and journeyed in the east;
  • Nuage Soyeux Sagace, the name she gave herself to ease her integration in Tonalli;
  • She also has a name unknown to her, as she doesn't remember her early childhood and was never told the first name she had been given.

• She wears earrings that were given to her by the first friend she made when she was 8 years old. She keeps them for sentimental and symbolic reasons.

• Her skin is very stretchy.

• She attempted suicide twice, and was determined to it, but her attempts were sabotaged by an event that give her hope.

• She designed Gentille's new appearance and made it so that she corresponds to her taste in women. This change has somehow changed Nuage's opinion on Tonalli's traditional clothing, and she has more appreciation for it.

• She greatly disregards the language of Low Realm and those who speak it.

• She admires Mnemon and would love to meet her. She follows the example of what Mnemon appears like as a public image and what values she seems to favor.

• In her opinion, most problems in Creation could be solved if the Dragon-blooded and the Solars form an alliance, and conversely, Creation will be lost if they keep fighting. She also considers freeing the Yozis from their prison in Malfeas in order to save Creation as a much preferable alternative to leaving it to the Neverborn.

• She is pro-open relationship. In her ideal world, Peleps Parisi and Vérité would be her concubines and Peleps Rojo would be his Husband.

• She would be very jealous if Peleps Parisi, Vérité and Peleps Rojo get into a relation
