This List features a large number of Motivations for Solar Exalted Characters. While they are primarily for use with the Motivation Trait of Second Edition these goals can also be used as a background for First Edition characters.

Creative / Generating
- Build a bridge between the Blessed Isle and the Threshold.
- Build a game so addictive, it will pull the Gods away from the Games of Divinity, with the advantage that it has downtimes, during which the Celestines can not play and instead take care of Creation and Yu-Shan.
- Build a merchant empire.
- Create a level 5 or N/A artifact.
- Create a new race of sentient beings.
- Create a portable "Manse" artifact.
- Create a secret society.
- Create a sentient automata to aid in experiments that has the same potential as a mortal, only is immortal and self sustaining.
- Create the largest harem in creation.
- Design and build a level 4 or 5 manse.
- Develop technological wonders that do not rely on essence.
- Establish Creation spanning education system.
- Establish Creation spanning teleportation network.
- Establish training center for new Exalts.
- Forge a new more balanced Creation and leave the old one behind.
- Forge an empire.
- Gain access to an Essence for experimentation.
- Make sure every kingdom in creation has the essence fueled conveniences of artificial lights and indoor plumbing.
- Purify the Essence of an Abyssal Exalt.

- Refurbish the Realm Defense Grid to better than First Age capabilities.

- Find and re-marry First Aged Lunar spouse.
- Gain control of the Realm Defense Grid.
- Learn all the magics of creation; every Charm, Spell and Supernatural Martial Art in existence.
- Learn the language of the Primordials.
- Learn the names and roles of all the pre-history Primordials.
- Master all levels of Sorcery.
- Move the Lords of the Underworld to weep in response to your song/poetry/prose.
- Observe the wonders of Creation and marvel at their splendor.
- Perpetrate the biggest swindle in Creation. Then one-up it.
- Rescue the Scarlet Empress.
- Secure a Gate to Heaven.
- Secure an Orichalcum deposit (For a Solar Craftsman concept).
- See all of Creation.
- Sire 100 children (And then become a legacy your children will be proud to be a part of).
- Steal a Peach of Immortality.
- Steal the prayers of Creation to give to the Unconquered Sun.
- Take and keep control of the Imperial Manse and the Realm Defense Grid.
- Take over Creation.
- Train your troops to the most feared mercenary company in the Scavenger Lands and earn that reputation.
- Tread upon the floor of the ocean in the deep West.
- Unearth secret First Age knowledge.
- Unite all the Criminal empires under one banner: yours.

Societal
- Abolish organized religion in the (North/South/Scavenger Lands/Realm/wherever).
- Awaken the essence of every mortal in Creation.
- Bring back Air-Travel to Creation.
- Bring down the Immaculate Order and expose it for what it is (Sidereal tool to control the masses).
- Bring enlightenment and civility to everyone in creation.
- Bring law and order to a city (Nexus).
- Close all Shadowlands and separate the Underworld and Creation.
- Close Oblivion.
- Create a lasting peace between the Haltans and the Linowans.
- Defeat a Dark Fate (Such as Lookshy's, or that of another PC, or her own).
- Discover the one weakness for each of the Deathlords.
- Eliminate all criminals everywhere, by any means necessary.
- Eliminate disease.
- Eliminate the corruption in the Celestial Bureaucracy.
- Establish proper Solar cult (none of that Illuminated crap either).
- Find and Lift the Great Curse.
- Fix Autochthon.
- Gain the support of an important faction (Lookshy) for your cause.
- Get worship of the US the official religion of every nation in the Scavenger Lands.
- Liberate a city (Thorns).

- Send the ghosts of Chiaroscuro to Lethe.
- Set things right in Heaven.
- Stop the Wyld Hunt.
- Unite the Cult of the Illuminated and the Immaculate Order into one unified, and Solar controlled, religion.
