Since the vast, vast majority of the edits going on here are from people on the chats, I've been aggressively going through and adding tags to various pages. These tags are for everyone's benefit: they let users know that the content is not official canon; in many cases, the tags inform people which chat you're involved with; and they add you to certain categories so that you can more easily view all the pages belonging to a specific chat environment.
The tags are:
- {{chat}} : This is used if I can't immediately tell which chat you belong to, or if you don't belong to one of the major official chat venues. If you see this on your page, you can change it to one of the others below.
- {{chat-chi}} : This is for Chicago/Aurora-specific characters.
- {{chat-vtr}} : For New Orleans-specific characters.
- {{chat-wtf}} : For Rockies-specific characters.
- {{chat-mta}} : For Boston-specific characters.
There's also a {{fanon}} tag for all other unofficial works: a homebrew rule or an NPC/PC from your own campaign.
I would also like to remind people to give your articles suitable titles. Don't make an article called History or Bob's Equipment. Instead, go for Boston History or Bob "Nickname" Smith's Equipment. This way it'll be easier to tell at a glance what's going on, and easier for the search engine to find the right pages. It'll also prevent other people from inadvertently interfering with your page.
Actually, we prefer that all information on a given chat character remain on a single page. But if you absolutely must create a new page, we recommend a subpage. So in the above example, Bob "Nickname" Smith's equipment page would appear as Bob "Nickname" Smith/Equipment. You can create a link from Bob Smith's character page just by linking to [[/Equipment]]. A return link will be created automatically.
As new pages come up, I've been adding {{chat}} tags. I've also gone through all the articles starting with A to add them, and will slowly be proceeding throughout the alphabet to try to ensure total coverage.
I'm also trying to encourage users who want to write encyclopedia entries regarding canon materials from the World of Darkness books. So if you want to do that, or see an article that needs writing, go for it! --Ian 15:30, 17 August 2006 (EDT)
