Black as the Ace of Spades

You know I'm born to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby,
I don't want to live forever.

The Mask

Edward is a tall man, looking something like thirty years old and standing at around six foot, with a slender structure to his body and narrow, contemplative, slate-colored eyes. Despite his pale complexion and the lank and simple appearance of his shoulder-length black hair, it appears as if Edward makes a conscious effort to put forward a proper appearance: he holds himself high and his balanced movements are graceful and measured, as if the man thinks very highly of himself.

His manner of dress certainly compounds this image, with his lean form rarely seen clad in anything less than a casual dress-suit and fedora, with black and white colors being the order of the day. His skin is marked by ink: a tattoo, impressive in its symmetry, black coils intertwined with playing card symbolism reaching out from between his shoulder blades, extending down to his lower back and stopping just above the elbow on either arm.

The Mien

Edward’s mien is like a photo negative, pale skin shifting to the color of midnight, spilling over into the whites of his eyes. His irises are the color of bright ivory, and his pupils are overlaid with the symbol of a spade. His lean features take on a more defined form, growing sharper, giving him a distinctly elfin appearance. His tattoos take on the reverse coloration as well, revealing themselves to be white scars, carved into his flesh with a steady hand.

Showing Your Hand

Or, the opinions of Chicago's populace. Feel free to add yours.

"Every time he comes in I get a lot more talkative for some reason. He's very interesting. Unfortunately, no matter how much I like him, he still can't smoke in the store. At least I know how he likes his coffee..." - Darin Rauhl (Left town)

"..." *Smiles lightly and make a thankful gesture toward Edward before showing him playing card of his own deck "Ace of Hearts."* - The Silent Witch

"Prince Charming in a monochrome suit. Remind me to buy Leela a small island for throwing that chess game my darling Eddie. Oh and if you think you're ever getting that fedora back...think again." - Violet Hashi

"Though I saw the lump in his throat, he had the will to shake my taloned hand when we met. I'm not entirely sure what he does, or for that matter what he is, but he's a good friend, with a strong heart." - Barrett Lowe

"Seemed like a nice enough guy. Too bad he had to deal with that drunk gay fella all over him" - Edward Derby

"El es mi hermano. And you dun fuck wit family, oks? He could use some direction, and thas comin' from a kid, but....but he's still my bro. And he's got my back so I can't so none too bad. And if anyone asks...I'm the better lookin' one." - Jaime Valderrama

"Ed's possibly the closest thing I have to a best friend. Loyal, friendly, always there to offer a shoulder when the stress gets to be too much and I need to cry it all out. He's one of the few people I truly admire and want to be like. The other one being a certain dead spider boy." - Allison (Gearbox) Smith

*Smirks* "Never get caught." - Nathan -Sammael- Bernard

"Sad how things snowballed like they did... He seemed like someone I might have been able to trust... eventually." - Bob Romero

"This guy was pretty funny the whole two times I met him." - Lourdes Walker -- Fugitive loudmouth

"So, I met this weird guy on the train..He gave me a playing card with a number on it, think I should call it?" - Nathan Archer

And don't forget the joker.
